Kousiou Brothers Bridge

Kousiou Brothers Bridge

The “Kousiou Brothers Bridge” is one of the highest bridges within an urban fabric in Greece. The length of the bridge is 110 meters, its total height from the lowest point of the Tripotamos river reaches 31 meters, its width is 13 meters, of which eight are the two-way traffic lanes and five (2.5 m . and 2.5 m.) is a sidewalk.
The work on the project was completed in mid-July 2020. During the work, an important archaeological survey and excavation was carried out by the Antiquities Tax Office of Imathia and 3 burial monuments were found at the site, while at the same time a part of the ancient city wall that had been found in an earlier time was protected with a wooden canopy in the area of the bridge slopes.
A bridge that reminds the citizens of Veria of the donation of 2,500,000 euros made for this purpose to the Municipality of Veria by the brothers Manolis, Antonis and Yiannis Kousios, an example to follow for the city’s society.
