Church of Panagia Perivleptos

Church of Panagia Perivleptos

The Church of Panagia Peribletos was built in the 15th century as a three-aisled wooden roofed basilica and it is today one of the most important ecclesiastic monuments in Veria; an excellent example of the meta byzantine architecture of the town.
It preserves a few of the original murals of the 15th century as well as some others murals of the 18th century with depictions of Panagia Peribleptos, the Assumtion, the Baptism of Christ and the Pieta. The templum of the church is created by an uncommon architrave as far as the morphological and artistic aspect is concerned, with depictions of the Dodekaorton.
