The Great Church of Saints Anargyroi

The Great Church of Saints Anargyroi

The Church of Saints Anargyroi that is located beside the newer Church of Saints Anargyroi, was built at the end of the 16th century but it was radically reconstructed at the beginning of the 19th century into a five-aisled basilica with a two aisled roof. Only the east wall of the original church is preserved where some murals of the 16th century still survive. However, in comparison with other churches, it preserves one of the most plentiful collections of icons that were found in demolished byzantine and post byzantine churches of the town.
