Kostochori

Kostochori

The village is located 9 km away from Veria, at an altitude of 700 meters and was inhabited after the exchange of populations in 1922 by Pontic refugees. Today it has few permanent residents but is one of the most beautiful villages of Veria also known as the balcony of Mountain Vermio, since it offers a panoramic view into the green plain.

Worth to visit

The chapel of St. Athanasios, a small church which was built by Cappadocian monks and on its walls are depicted the saints of their homeland.

Important Dates

Beginning of October
At the beginning of October, the Cultural Association of Kostochori organizes the “Chestnut Festival” at the old school of the village and offers free roasted and boiled chestnuts, accompanied by wine and meat.
