Cathedral of the Apostles Peter and Paul
The date of construction and the time of conversion of the Cathedral Apostles Peter and Paul into a cathedral in Veria have not been yet identified. Some evaluations place the construction of the temple around the 15th century after the conversion of the old Cathedral into a Muslim mosque. In 1728 Archbishop Joachim had the temple significantly renovated and then the templum and the cathedral throne was constructed. After this intervention the building was converted into a three-aisled basilica while at the west side there are still preserved traces of murals of the same period.
