Church of Saint Nicolas of Gourna
The original single-spaced temple of Saint Nicolas of Gourna was built at the beginning of the 15th century and after extensive interventions at the end of the 15th century and the beginning of the 16th it was shaped into a three-aisled basilica with a gable roof.
The murals of the alcove of the Sanctum date back to the early years of the temple’s construction (15th century) while the mural paintings with the depictions of the portrait of dead Vasilo from Veria, who was the owner of the temple, that decorate the narthex date back to 1525. There are also later murals preserved from the 17th century.
