Lighting of the cedars in Vergina
The Vergina Cultural Association will revive the Halloween custom of burning the cedars, accompanied by bagpipes, next Sunday 2-26-2023 at 06.30pm. It is one of the customs aimed at purifying evil spirits and erasing bad luck.
A feast with wine and traditional halva will follow. On the bagpipes will be Thanasis the Skipper.
Because the cutting of cedars is prohibited, wood collected by the villagers will be used.
